Welcome, Welcome!

This is our first official post, and we are super excited! Eek! We have been working on this new little blog for the past couple of weeks, and we already have followers! So to all of you who are new here, and are helping us get started, THANK YOU!
Since we are all getting acquainted, we want to tell you a little bit about ourselves...
About Miss Claudia
Miss Claudia and The Hubs

Miss Ava
Miss Halle

After I tell you the usual stuff (my age, about my family, yadda, yadda, yadda) I thought it would be fun to answer some random questions...
I am approaching the ripe ol' age of 28. And you know what? I'm ok with that. :) I have an absolutely incredible husband who loves to test out my baking skills. I have two beautiful girls who are the spunk and spice of my life. I love the color yellow and I love giraffes! Now on to some random tidbits about me...
#1. My favorite food as a child was probably pizza. Pizza still is my favorite food!! Mmm....
#2. The #1 song that's played the most on my iPod is probably "I've Got a Dream" from the Tangled soundtrack. Tangled is a favorite around our house, and somehow my 2 year old manages to play that song every time she has my iPod.
#3. One of my favorite quotes of all time is "Falling in love is easy, but staying in love is something special".  I completely agree with that. Staying in love takes hard work, but it's totally worth it. :)
#4. One of my favorite activities is watching movies. I know that's totally lame, but I love watching a good movie!
#5. One chore I absolutely hate doing is folding laundry. Ugh. I always fold the previous weeks laundry when this weeks laundry is in the dryer. I don't know why I hate it so much... it only takes a few minutes, but I despise it!
#6. My favorite time of the day is usually after my kids get up from their naps. After they wake up, I seem to have a little burst of energy, and that's when I get most things done. Plus, they are refreshed from sleeping, so we have peace and happiness for a few moments. :)
#7. I hate driving in Oregon at night. The roads are narrow, there's usually ditches on either side of the road, and I can't see anything! The clouds cover any light that can come from the stars or the moon, and there aren't any street lights!
#8. My favorite sound is the sound of rain. When I found out I was moving to Oregon, people told me that it's too rainy for them... but I love it! I love it when I fall asleep to rain falling and wake up to the sound of rain. It relaxes me...
So there you have it, some random tidbits about me... I hope you will love our blog, and we would love to get to know you better!

About Miss Christie
Hi there!  I am so excited about this venture with my good friend Claudia!  Creating Pops and Podge has truly been such a fun process.  I am thrilled with the way it is all shaping up.  For our first post here, it is fitting that we share some bits about ourselves.   Here is a little view into my life...

Me and the Man (4 years ago, dang I looked good!)
 The Boss (Boston)
Coming soon... Sweet little Savannah
Claudia is a little braver than I and has openly shared her age...hmmm, yeah not so fast here.  The good news is everyone usually thinks I am younger than I am.  I was born and raised in San Jose, California.  And I do miss that sunshine.  But I do have to say, we may have more rainy days here in Oregon, but I have never seen it rain so hard as it does in San Jose sometimes.   I have been sort of a west coast girl my whole life.  I have lived in San Jose, San Diego, Seattle and here in Portland.  I spent a few months in Rexburg, Idaho and a few more months in Logan, Utah.  It was way too cold for this Cali girl!  I enjoyed 4 months abroad in Florence, Italy and a few more months traveling about Europe as many youngins' do.   Needless to say, I like to travel and am not afraid of change.  But I am settled now and am loving Oregon.

I am a stay at home mom and work at home meeting planner.  I do both part time.  Although it is a little hard to be a mom part time, just saying I have help.  Lot's of help.  I'm pretty spoiled actually.  But a girl has to make a living sometimes.  I plan conventions and large meetings. I have been planning for about 15 years and own my own company called Northwest Green Event Management (Northwest GEM).  I love what I do and find it hard to give up, so I don't...yet.  I am often pretty slow in the winter and summer and like to stay busy, so I blog.

I started Portobello Road (now Pops and Podge) last year when I bought a whole bunch of furniture and started refinishing it and then posting about it.  But now it has turned into so much more.  I also host a monthly craft night for about 20 local friends.  I have always loved crafting, decorating, cooking, baking and just being creative in any way.  I hope that you enjoy your time floating around our blog, Pops and Podge.
